The holiday season is upon us…

September 11th, 2008

It’s September, and many people are already planning their holiday gift giving. Every year is starts earlier. Businesses are putting out their Halloween gifts sooner and even before October 31st, big retailers like Wal-Mart already have Christmas stuff in their stores. It’s really the retailers who set the season. They try to outdo one another. But regardless of how early it starts, there’s almost that large percentage of gift givers who wait until the last minute. It’s their right of passage.

National Grandparent’s Day

September 5th, 2008

Sunday September 7th is National Grandparent’s Day. This is a wondeful idea. Grandparent’s sometimes lose out on receiving the respect and apprection they received all those years their kids were growing up. Grandparent’s are the unsug heroes. When you need a babysitter, grandma never says no. When you need a handyman around the house, grandpa wouldn’t hesitate to come over with his toolbox. Sometimes, it’s important to remember those who really mean the most.

Fall is Just Around the Corner…

August 20th, 2008

If you look closely, the leaves are starting to turn.  Ok, you have to look really close. But back to school is less than 2 weeks ago. It’s early this year. Halloween and Christmas gift planning has already begun, especially for a busy gift basket business. Sample orders are arriving daily and new designs will be created shortly. Once photographed, they will be placed online asap. I can almost smell the cinnamon sticks!

Unique Gourmet Food Gift Baskets Solutions

August 9th, 2008

The most popular type of gift to send is gourmet food baskets. It is considered the mainstay for all senders of gifts to friends and family. The variety and selection of food items that can be included in a food basket is great. Sweet and savory items are probably the most populous. Chocolate, coffee, tea, cookies, crackers and other types of snack items are the obvious choices. When sending a large gourmet gift, the recipient will have lots of treats to eat and probably would not finish all items for weeks and possibly months. Gourmet Food Gifts make great holiday and event gifts to send to any recipient.

When you’re down and out…get well my friend!

August 2nd, 2008

Being sick is never fun. Being sick in the middle of summer is dreadful. Nobody wants to be couped up in bed fighting a cold or the flu when all of their friends are at the beach, working hard on their tan. It’s difficult to stay cheerful when you know you are one of a select group of individuals who couldn’t stay well when everyone else could. Flu season is in the middle of winter. That’s when you’re supposed to get sick, not in August! For all of you who have friends or family members in this predicament, get well gift baskets are great for sending cheerful messages of hope that soon the illness will pass.  Unique get well gifts are great for spreading messages of hope and recovery.

Summertime and it’s almost gone…

July 23rd, 2008

The weather is horrible right now, and I’m thinking of how fast the summer is passing. Soon the leaves will be turning and kids will be back in school. The only satisfaction is knowing that business will pick up and we’ll be able to create some fantastic halloween and christmas gift baskets. I’d prefer to live in South Florida and run a gift basket business but that is not the luck I have. In the meantime, I’ll wait for the next sunny day and make sure i enjoy it to the fullest!

Halloween Ghosts and Goblins

July 14th, 2008

I was visiting my aunt the other day when I swear I saw little ghosts and goblins running around the streets.  It’s still July and yet, I’m already seeing the Halloween spookiness that is coming soon.  I’m sure it was my imagination but it felt real. Maybe i’ve been looking too much at gift catalogs for products to include in our holiday halloween gift baskets.  Maybe I need more sleep.  January can’t come soon enough!

Making it a better Gift Basket World…

July 10th, 2008

Every so often, a company comes along and things of the users it services.  It tries to make sure that all aspects of the gifting process are covered.  Such a company exists, and it took into account tons of features and considerations to make sure that your gift basket shopping experience online is the best one possible.  They issue a press release regarding the launch of their new gift basket shopping cart.  Kudos for the great work that makes life easier for many people!

Halloween Gifts – in July?

July 6th, 2008

Who plans for Halloween in July? Retailers, that’s who – especially those of us in the gift industry!(Actually large retailers such as those big box stores have already completed their planning for Halloween months ago). I’m currently reviewing last year’s gift designs and going over the numbers, looking for the strong sellers and identifying the less popular designs. Once I compare this information with our historical data over the past few years I’ll be ready to really focus and get down to business. Have a peek at some corporate halloween gift giving information.

Lazy Hazy Days of Summer…

July 2nd, 2008

Now that July is upon us, we hear the sounds of children playing in our neighbourhoods all day long rather than just in the evenings. It reminds me of my childhood and what I looked forward to all year long….the summer holidays. I was a pretty good student, and for the most part enjoyed school, however, there was nothing like having it done with for the year and to be able to do whatever we wanted during the day without worry of any unfinished homework or an impending test. This was what we thought was freedom back then, if only for two months. I was surfing the web the other day looking for material on holidays when I found this holiday page on Wikipedia. It has explanations of the word holiday and vacation, from their Etymology to their Religious meanings. The website also talks about employment issues and the types of holidays that there are. The summer holidays were my favourite as a child, but if I remember correctly, they were over before you knew it. Speaking of that, I’m sure in the next few weeks, you’ll start to see back-to-school ads in the local papers. Tell your kids to enjoy it while they can.
